Dependable wireless communication gains its momentum as it is envisioned as a backbone of many interesting applications in various industrial domains. However, to successfully deploy such bring those there seems still some lack of confidence for applying wireless solutions to industrial processes in a wider area. These demanding research challenges will be addressed in a special session co-organized by the European research project InSecTT (Intelligent Secure Trustable Things – https://www.insectt.eu/) that will cover MIKON 2022 conference topics that may be used to bring intelligent, secure and reliable wireless systems closer to reality. The submissions may address the following specific topics: AI/ML for wireless transmission, including explainable AI/ML; dependable wireless communication, real-time monitoring and response; real-time critical communication; verification and validation of reliable wireless communication.
Development of complete value chains for radio frequency (RF) electronics in 5G will enable new opportunities for sensing, communication, radio infrastructure and applications that have the potential to bring together mobile broadband (5G/6G), the Internet of Things (IoT) and automation connectivity for self-driving cars in a single technology platform. At the same time, it creates challenges to gather key actors covering the entire value chain from materials, semiconductor technologies, designs and components up to the systems, especially when most advanced SOI technologies manufactured in Europe, namely RFSOI and FDSOI, are considered . These challenges will be addressed in a special session co-organized by the European research project BEYOND5 (Building the fully European supplY chain on RFSOI, enabling New RF Domains for sensing, Communication, 5G and beyond – https://www.beyond5project.org).
To satisfy the ever-growing demand for communication services various methods to increase transmission network capacities are investigated. To realize Tb/s/channel optical networks, circuits operating at 100 Gbd using multilevel format are required. To satisfy 5G and 6G necessities D-band power amplifiers are necessary. III-V electronic technologies are ideally suited for such applications due to their high speed of operation, high RF output power and low-noise capabilities, and potential heterointegration in ultra-compact systems. In this session, we will present recent results in high-speed and beyond 100 GHz RF MMIC design and realization of III-V circuits and modules. Various applications will be demonstrated.
